 Pennsylvania House furniture had a great run as one of the top manufacturers and furniture design companies of the 1970s and 80s. They offered reasonably priced furniture with solid craftsmanship and construction. Many of their cherry and maple pieces produced in that time frame still have resale value provided that the condition is good.

Pennsylvania House left behind many satisfied customers from that furniture period and there are folks who are still in search of a nightstand or a dresser to compliment an existing set.

This week, our Piece of The Week, is this solid cherry queen canopy bed which was likely made in the late 1970s or early 1980s.

It is a bit colonial and would look really nice set  up in an Antique Queen Anne style home. The canopy is not too large and the bed as a whole would blend quite well with various types of other furniture such as pine, mahogany, tiger maple, etc.

Quality Queen size bedroom sets are the hardest items to find on consignment because there are not too many people looking to sell them. A Queen size bedroom set is generally something that you live with for a good part of your life.  Many of the queen sets that are offered to us are older, very worn and very dated.  We don't accept those sets into our showroom. It is unusual for us to have several queen bedroom sets and at the moment we have many sets priced under $2,000.  If you are looking for a quality constructed, good looking queen bedroom set, that is a great deal then you have caught us at the right time.  In this week's "Deal of the Week" video blog, Jay highlights some of these very nice sets.

On the heels of the ABC World News' "Made in America" special that aired this week, we are featuring this Vaughn Basset Bedroom set that is in our furniture consignment inventory and is item number 2184-7. In the feature, a family in Dallas, TX volunteered to fore go all foreign made product in their home and received replacement items that are made in America. One of the companies that was selected to provide replacement furniture was Vaughn Basset Furniture which is 99% made in America.  Vaughn Bassett is in the midrange in the marketplace and is made from mostly solid wood. This particular set is constructed of many solid pieces of cherry wood which is very good compared to the imports, that sell at the same price point, where most of the composition is an engineered wood. This is a very handsome set consisting of Queen Bed with solid cherry and a scrolled iron top, a wardrobe chest with a door, shelving and a nightstand.
