This week we shine our Furniture Spotlight on the Columbus Avenue Stickley Sideboard. It is item #2190-7 in our inventory. This sideboard is a reproduction of a piece that was built for Gustav Stickley's home. The original is in the Stickley museum and is valued at over $560,000. From our understanding, Stickley produced 100 of these sideboards and they are no longer in production. The closest thing we could find in the current line is the Syracuse Sideboard. So even though this item is only 12 years old, it is sure to be collector's item and a piece of value in the not too distant future. The great characteristics of this item are the Mission hardware and the solid white oak wood which is indigenous to the North East United States where Stickley Furniture is produced.
We are also fortunate to have an additional 30 pieces of Stickley furniture all from the same waterfront home and it is a true collection of Stickley's flagship Mission Oak product. We have a Grandfather clock, sideboard, Trestle Table, Spindle Chairs, Executive Desk, Library Table, settee, Bookcases, Cabinets, Armoires and much more. All of these products have the Stickley markings, are hand crafted in Manlius New York. They are superb values at Furniture Consignment Gallery. This is an amazing, must see collection. Come start your own Stickley Collection today. All pieces are in excellent condition and are discounted well below the Stickley store prices.
This Tight back sofa by Baker Furniture is a great deal at $899. Baker Furniture's Simply Baker upholstery pieces starts it's pricing at $2,795 and the Baker Classics line pricing starts at $4,000. Those are "starting at" prices so $899 is a real bargain especially since this sofa is in excellent condition, is a desirable style and an attractive fabric. This sofa is item number 2062-5 in our inventory. If you prefer to reupholster this sofa, you would need approximately 20 yards of fabric and it may cost about $1,000 in labor. So even if you wanted to reupholster this sofa, it is still a good deal. That is why this Baker Furniture sofa is our Deal of the Week.
On the heels of the ABC World News' "Made in America" special that aired this week, we are featuring this Vaughn Basset Bedroom set that is in our furniture consignment inventory and is item number 2184-7. In the feature, a family in Dallas, TX volunteered to fore go all foreign made product in their home and received replacement items that are made in America. One of the companies that was selected to provide replacement furniture was Vaughn Basset Furniture which is 99% made in America. Vaughn Bassett is in the midrange in the marketplace and is made from mostly solid wood. This particular set is constructed of many solid pieces of cherry wood which is very good compared to the imports, that sell at the same price point, where most of the composition is an engineered wood. This is a very handsome set consisting of Queen Bed with solid cherry and a scrolled iron top, a wardrobe chest with a door, shelving and a nightstand. This set is an excellent value selling on consignment at Furniture Consignment Gallery in Hanover, MA at $899. The great thing about American Made furniture is that it has very strong resale value on the second hand furniture market. We are pleased ABC ran this feature and are happy to present this Vaughn Basset set as our Deal of the Week.
As ABC World News ran a wonderful feature this week on Home Furnishings that are Made in America, we shine our Furniture Spotlight on this Harden Furniture Goddard Library Display Cabinet. This cabinet is one of my favorite pieces manufactured by the Harden line. It is solid cherry and is item number 2182-1 in our inventory. Even the structural interior bones are a solid cherry. This a very high-end piece that is striking in appearance and would be the focal point in your home. Harden Furniture is one of the companies that ABC World News selected to provide replacement furniture for the home in Dallas Texas. Go to ABC World News to see the story Made in America: What's The Cost of US Housewares? Harden Furniture is manufactured in upstate New York and they harvest the wood for their furniture from their own forests. ABC World News also did a nice feature on Harden Furniture. The only thing more American than buying this amazing American made piece of furniture is the American tradition of buying from and selling to your neighbors. Consignment makes this practice easy and confidential. When you buy furniture on consignment even the high end pieces become affordable. We hope you enjoy our piece of the week video.
We are fortuanet to have a Maitland-Smith Sheraton Style Mahogany Pembroke End Table in our showroom. It is item number 2164-2 in our inventory and is priced at $1,999. This piece takes the spotlight this week because of the beautiful veneer work. Maitland-Smith's furniture makers are more than craftsmen. They are true artisans creating pieces that are more like artwork than furniture. This particular piece features hand-stenciled, and hand-drawn art on the surface. The stenciling blends in beautifully with the walnut, satin and ebonized mahogany veneers. In addition to the amazing veneer work, Maitland-Smith's drawer construction is not the typical dovetail and is instead similare to a tongue and groove. The tongue and groove construction is structurally very sound. Maitland-Smith has one of the most complete selections of reproduction end tables in the marketplace, but we really like this one because it is very detailed and is subtle with its design, yet it is very striking. Other maufacturers who do a wonderful job with their end tables are Kindel Furniture and Kittinger Furniture. We have placed this beautiful piece of furniture art in the center of our showroom and customers are unable to walk past it without an "ooh" or an "ahhh".
This week we shine our Furniture Spotlight on Circa 1940s Mahogany Bedroom Set. This set comes with a dresser, two nightstands, a full size head board, foot board and rails. It is an excellent value at $1,300. Compare this set with what new furniture stores are offering and see what you can find for $1,300 in a bedroom set. We think that you will agree that this is a tremendous deal. The quality and craftsmanship of the 1940s is not replicated in today's marketplace especially for the price. This is a set that can be refinished time and time again. Place this set in a spare bedroom, or buy it for a teenager who has outgrown their childhood furniture. As your teenager moves through life, this set could go with them to their first apartment, first home and then be passed onto their children. This set should out live all of us. It is great quality, has a great look and we don't think you can beat this deal. This set is item number 2135-3 in our inventory.
