Henkel Harris Fairfax Corner Cabinet steals the Spotlight

Posted by Jay Frucci on Sat, February 12, 2011 @ 07: 23 AM
This week Furniture Consignment Gallery is featuring this Fairfax Corner Cabinet by Henkel Harris as the Piece of the Week. This is what we call a "WOW" piece.  The cabinet is item number 2152-1 in our inventory. This piece was too big for a small dining room in a Boston condo and the owner had tears in her eyes as it exited her home.  This is a beautiful piece made of solid cherry with Henkel Harris' special finish - not too glossy and not too flat. They do a wonderful job of blending and applying their finishThe Corner Cabinet was one of Henkel Harris' first pieces that the Henkel family manufactured. Their cherry finish is one of a kind and is one that many other furniture manufacturers try to emulate. It has solid brass hardware and is lighted on the sides. This piece has a lot of storage space and would work well in a dining room or a living room. It is selling in furniture Consignment's showroom for $2,999.00. We love to sellHenkel Harris furniture on consignment. Similar to Baker and Kindel, it is one of our favorite manufacturers.

Furniture Consignment Gallery's deal of the week is this Thomasville solid oak bunk bed.  This is a great price for a bunk bed at just $360.00!  Sure you can find a Bunk Bed at Ikea for under $300, but if you are looking for a quality bed with longevity, you may consider this Thomasville piece which is selling on consignment.  If it wouldn't work in your house, it might work in a lake house or a ski chalet.  This is a great bed for kids, the top is set low so it's not too high for a child to climb up on and it makes it easier to make the bed.  It has the bunkie boards included so you don't have to worry about buying them.

Kreiss Collection Apothecary Chest

Posted by Jay Frucci on Sat, January 29, 2011 @ 04: 50 PM

This week our Furniture Spotlight camera features this Apothecary Chest which is manufactured by the Kreiss Collection, a very exclusive furniture line. This piece of furniture came from a beautiful home in Concord, MA. These are the types of pieces that you want to buy on consignment because you get extraordinary value for an extraordinary piece of furniture.

Furniture by Kreiss Collection is normally found in the residences of very wealthy home owners. But when you can find a piece like this on the furniture resale market, it becomes affordable.  This Apothecary Chest has 14 drawers, and is leather wrapped with a beautiful gold inlay. It is item 1918-29. The drawers are all finished inside and out, on the bottom and even in the interior. This exclusive furniture is very upscale pre-owned furniture.

The Lionhead hardware alone would cost a great deal of money. This can be put in your bedroom, hallway, or dining room. A lamp or two will accent this beautifully. It is a standalone piece that will bring great decor to your home. This piece, if purchased new, would be priced at around Six thousand dollars. At Furniture Consignment Gallery, this is priced today for only $1,330.00.

Antique Jacobian Server is a Great Deal

Posted by Jay Frucci on Sat, January 29, 2011 @ 07: 55 AM

This week's Furniture Consignment Gallery's Furniture Spotlight Deal of the Week is this Jacobian influenced server, which came from an estate in Milton. The owner lived in London for several years and purchased it over there and transported it to the United States.  It is item 1937-5 in our inventory. This piece has some very nice features.  The wood has a wonderful patina and has a lot of hand carvings on the drawers and on the back splash.  It appears that leather is inlaid in the drawers.  The hardware is substantial.  This server is on casters because in the old days they would have wheeled the food from the kitchen to the dining room.
This piece could have many uses in your home today.  We think it could be converted into a bar by installing a glass rack that would allow you to hang wine glasses upside down and you could insert a small wine rack in the cabinet below.  We think it's a great deal at just $575.00!

Mahogany Chippendale Dining Chairs

This set of eight Mahogany Chippendale Chairs imported from Italy was originally priced at $3,899.99.  They are now at their final markdown price of $2,499.99, which works out to be about $300.00 per chair.  They are item number 1984-2 in our inventory. If you were to purchase these chairs new, they would cost at least $800.00 per chair. Watch as Diana explains why she likes these chairs so much.

Furniture Spotlight Zooms in on Statton Furniture Dining Set

Posted by Jay Frucci on Sat, January 22, 2011 @ 04: 05 PM

This week Diana shines our Furniture Spotlight on a beautiful dining room set from the Statton Furniture Company. It is item number 2116-2 in Furniture Consignment Gallery's inventory and is priced at $2,299. Statton furniture Company has been in business since 1926, is a family business and are in their 3rd generation of ownership. Statton Furniture Company is well known for their attention to fine craftsmanship and quality. Their quality is similar to that of Cochran Furniture, Ethan Allen and Sumpter Furniture. When you think of furniture from those companies, you know you are getting excellent value for your dollar. This particular set is twenty years old and was made in America.

In the Spotlight video, Diana points out that the table is beveled all around the edge, comes with three leaves and seats eight comfortably. The chairs are Queen Anne style with a splat back and an elegant cabriolet leg. The seats remove easily if you want to change the upholstery. This set has a beautiful matching cherry hutch which is priced separately for $1,499 and is item number 2116-1 in our inventory. The hutch is back-lit so that it gives a nice ambiance in the dining room.

Furniture Spotlight Deal of the week: Mahogany Twin Beds

Posted by Jay Frucci on Fri, January 14, 2011 @ 05: 47 PM

This week we shine our Furniture Spotlight on a pair of mahogany twin beds with hand carved, pineapple tops.  The beds are item number 348-203 in our inventory. These beds are made from solid mahogany and are circa 1920s.  They have been recently refinished with a dark mahogany stain.  The price of the beds just dropped to their final markdown price and are now being sold at $700 for the pair.  This is way below market value!  Consider that a new twin bed at a furniture store that sells quality furniture would sell for between $400 - $700 for a single twin bed.  Yet this pair of beds, which is of greater quality and substance than most beds you can find in the marketplace, are being sold for $700 for the pair or for $350 each.  This is why we made these beds our Deal of The Week.  Watch the video as Jay explains.

Furniture Spotlight: Jeweler's Workbench converted to Kitchen Island

Posted by Jay Frucci on Fri, January 14, 2011 @ 05: 43 PM

This week we selected a Jeweler's workbench which has been converted into a Kitchen Island as our Furniture Spotlight, Piece of the Week. This piece is item number 2113-1 in our inventory and is selling for $2,999.  This kitchen island features reclaimed wood and parts from an old Jeweler's workbench.   The 3 inch thick solid oak wood working surface has plenty of beauty marks from years of use. We estimate the age of the original table to be between 80 to 100 years old.  Easily identifiable are the areas where the vices and several other tools were used.

Added onto the piece recently are a stainless steel wrapped shelf under the workbench, casters, faux paint on the interior and exterior and a bar top which protrudes out to accommodate bar stool seating. There is plenty of room for additional customizations such as changing the faux paint or replacing the bar top with granite that matches your counter tops instead of the stainless shelf. Watch as Jay describes why he likes this piece so much.
