This Tobey Handmade Furniture drop front desk may be a one of a kind piece. Tobey was notorious for designing and producing innovative custom furniture. Tobey handmade furnture employed Gustav Stickley before Stickley became Stickley. The desk is circa 1890 - 1900 and exults some characteristics of the Empire and Victorian styles. The rounded front and the carved accents are very beautiful. It looks like an old piano, but the front folds down and opens into a very functional desk. The desk would function well with a laptop and has lots of drawers and cubby holes to keep things organized. It is solid mahogany and has an incredible front door that is a thick piece of carved mahogany wood.

Tobey Handmade furniture in Chicago made quality hand made furniture from the 1850s to the 1920s. They did a masterful job with drawer construction utilizing tight acute triangular dove tail joints. The details and cravings were done by highly skilled craftsman. This piece is item number 2534-2 in our inventory and is $1,899.

This banded inlay dining table by Henredon is an amazing beauty as it features (3)  22" leaves.  Expanding from 68" wide to 134".  This table turns into a massive beauty that can accomodate 12 hungry family members comfortably. This table is made from a mahogany veneer with a satin banded inlay.  It is in very good condition.

 We have two pieces in our inventory featuring the name of local favorite manufacturer Eldred Wheeler.

 Eldred Wheeler pieces specialize in either cherry or tiger maple woods and they pride themselves on selecting the best stock of wood that will allow for the wood grains to pop through their classic finish.

 That is certainly true with this

cherry library desk that has excellent drawer construction. The working surface area is very large and features a distinct cherry wood grain that is quite nice. This desk is listed on Eldred Wheeler's website for $5,995. We are selling the desk for $2,499 a savings of $3,000!

The same is true of this Eldred Wheeler King cannonball bed in Tiger maple.

The bed retails for $2,790 on their website and we are selling the same beds with beautiful wood grain, no lead time for $900 less. You can't beat that!  The Tiger stripes on the head board are striking and the cannon ball tops have a slightly aged look that makes the bed appear older than it is in a good way.  Our price for this beautiful bed is $1,899.

The 1940s was a great time for furniture production in America. Our country was recovering from the great depression and people were establishing themselves once again. Italian and Irish immigrants were finding work, buying land and building homes. The American Dream was alive again! And people needed furniture.

Thanks to the Industrial Revolution craftsman now had machines to help build furniture so not everything had to been done by hand. However, these craftsman still had great skills that they would find ways to put to use. In many cases, these craftsman would get creative and they would add a hidden compartment in a dresser or create a unique mechanism that would allow for a table to expand.  Machines were taking away the craftsman's ability to create and have fun with a piece so it is common with some pieces in the 1940s to see these creative touches in furniture.

What is really neat about this desk is that when you close the center top drawer, it

automatically locks the top two drawers on the right and on the left. This is very creative because that way, only the center drawer would need to be locked and important papers could be stored in either of the drawers on the left and right side. This feature is pretty cool and is likely the result of a craftsman who was looking for a way to make the desk special.

This walnut desk is beautiful.  Most desks from this era were much smaller. They didn't have large computers and large rooms. This desk was probably built for an executive at a thriving company because the average person, even a business man, would have had little need for a desk of this size. For most people, a simple secretary with a flip down desk was all that was needed to write personal notes or to maintain a chart of accounts.

The wood grain on this desk is stunning and even though it has been refinished, it is in excellent condition and there are no signs of any repair work. The desk is a great deal, is super functional and is priced at $1,170.

This Ralph Lauren Rustic pine dining table has warped boards, plugged holes, dowels, bread board ends and a great finish.  You can't hurt this table and if you do, it is just another beauty mark along the way. This table is so cool and is well priced at $1,999.

Staying with our rustic theme is this Restoration Hardware rustic leather set. This genuine distressed leather can again work in most any style home and it is very comfortable and livable. Once again, the kids can wrestle and nestle into these pieces and any nicks and scratches just add to the character. Unfortunately, these pieces sold a few minutes after our video production. When rustic furniture comes on the secondary market, you better be ready to buy it because it sells fast.

We don't take a lot of sectionals, but we have three of them in stock right now.  If you can find the right configuration with the right fabric on consignment, you can save big time! Think about it. Sectionals are super expensive. Even at the lower end furniture stores, pricing starts at around $3,000.  But when you go to Arhaus, Crate & Barrel and Cabot House the sky is the limit as to how these are priced.
