Rock maple dressers are our favorite choice for bedrooms for people from ages zero to 100. That's right they are perfect for all ages. For kids rooms, these are a great fit. They are durable, rock solid and can take all of the abuse that you can throw at it. As your kids grow, these pieces can travel with them to their dorm room, to their first house and then onto their kids rooms. These pieces are that tough and they look that good that you will never want to let them go. They are even a perfect fit for senior housing complexes. These chests serve the entire circle of life. They are less money than you can buy a fancy looking chest at the new furniture stores. Solid maple dressers from the 1950s, are better built, still look great and will outlast all of us. We have maple dressers from $350-$700.
Four poster beds were once a symbol of a man's wealth. Fancy beds and the dressings that cover the canopy and the openings indicated the social status and the financial strength of the man. In today's world, hardly anyone uses the canopy tops anymore, but they are still nice even if the curtain dressings are not utilized.
Four poster beds are readily available for all persons from various econmic backgrounds and so they are no longer a symbol of wealth. However, there are differences in today's four poster beds most of which boil down to personal preference.
Some folks like a bigger, bolder poster that fills the room, while others like a poster that is sleeker and more elegant. Sometimes more is less and somteimes more is, well...more.
We have noticed that homeowners who appreciate color and design work would rather see less of the dark wood so that the eyes focus on beautiful fabrics on window treatments, bed dressings and the wall coverings. While others want to see the wood work.
There is no right or wrong, only personal prefernce. And the great thing about Furniture Consignment Gallery is that we have many wonderful four poster beds to choose from at the moment. We have a nice, bold, turned black King 4 Poster bed or a beautiful Teak, canopy, king bed that has rustic, elegant posters and a canopy top. A larger and more brawny Thomasville 4 poster king bed and a lovely Hickory Chair canopy King four poster bed. There are also two four poster beds in Chestnut Hill one that is a Queen and another that is a King.
With many four poster beds to choose from, this a great time to make a nice addition to you home. All of these beds are of excellent quality and craftsmanship.
Chair manufacturing has dramatically changed in the last ten years. Not too long ago, crafting a quality chair was a heavily involved and time consuming process. High end manufacturers still take the time to hand carve and custom construct beautiful chairs, but they are labor intensive with skilled craftsman. The end result is a nice chair with a hefty price tag that will look great for generations. In the modern era of chair construction, engineered woods are machine turned overseas and packed into a kit that is assembled with hex screws in a warehouse. The result is an inexpensive chair with weak construction. When, the screws loosen and an enthusiastic guest rocks slightly back and forth, your guest may find himself planted on the ground with his chair in pieces.
This set of (8) arm chairs by Kimball International are excellent construction built from solid cherry woods. They are hand carved by skilled craftsman and are extremely sturdy. Furniture makers of yesteryear would praise these chairs. They are an excellent price at $899 for the set which converts to $112 per chair. That is a far cry from the hundreds of dollars you would have to pay for a similar styled and constructed chair in today's marketplace.

Moosehead furniture is one of our favorite makers who makes no more. You may recall our blog referencing the company titled 3 Past Winners Shine on Resale Market.
We happen to have three identical Moosehead sold maple, mission style twin beds. These beds are all rock solid and will withstand and endure some serious punishment from the most raucous of kids. These beds should be strongly considered to outfit your new vacation home or to replace some tired old beds.
When Moosehead was rolling along these beds retailed at around $800 each and you can find them for what is likely to be a limited time at Furniture Consignment Gallery for $239 each. What a deal that is! And that is why they are our Deal of the week.

Purchased from the Boston Design Center twenty-five years ago, this set has a bit of fading and wear, but would be well worth a small investment to liven the finish and with that, this set would be a knock-out.

Custom built in the late 1940s this solid mahogany dining table has enough leaves and chairs to seat your neighborhood for a feast. This set is currently priced at $7,200This set is currently priced at $7,200and that is a bargain! The chairs alone could sell for more than $10,000 and the table by itself could fetch $4,000 or more.
Though there is no name brand associated with this set, it has all indications that it is very well made. The carved outer edge of the table and the banded inlay are quite nice and add some uniqueness to the set.
The set has been refinished, but could be finished again if a different tone and gloss is preferred. The pedestal bases are quite amazing as they boast a solid mahogany ball and claw that is over sized and hand carved. These types of sets are hard to find and this one is a great deal!
